Epic £100K Charity Golf Challenge

Losing my Step Mum (Pru Moore) to Cancer was a stark reminder that life is finite and should be lived to the max. So this is my ‘adventure of a lifetime’ and a chance to give back to the charities that provided her with so much help.

The Challenge

My goal is to play all 45 courses in ‘The 1906 Club’ in just 1906 hours (79 days, 10 hours) and raise £100K for charity! Crazy? Sure, but you’ve got to aim high right.

The courses are throughout England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿, Ireland 🇮🇪, Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 and Wales 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿; so lots of driving & exploring to do along the way.

The Charities

St.Peter & St.James Hospice

St.Peter & St.James’ Hospice (Chailey) provided palliative care for my Step Mum.

They were amazing; nothing was too much trouble and our family will be forever grateful for the dignity & compassion she was shown in her final weeks.

Macmillan Cancer Support

Macmillan Cancer Support were there for my Step Mum throughout her 4 year battle.

They also provided services to assist family members through the difficult times.

Adrian is just an average golfer hoping to use his love of the sport to have a positive impact in the world. This challenge is his first ‘impact project’ and he hopes to do more in the future.

FAQs

What Is The '1906 Club'?

It is an association of approximately 45 golf clubs (all founded in 1906) who have agreed to offer courtesy of their courses to members of other 1906 Clubs. It was founded towards the end of 2005 in preparation for the 100 year anniversary celebrations of member clubs in 2006.

Which Club Do You Belong To?

West Monmouthshire Golf Club in South Wales. It is officially the ‘Highest’ Golf Club in Great Britain standing at a maximum elevation of 1,519 feet (463 meters) above-sea-level at the 14th tee.

Are You Doing It On Your Own?

Yes. Being on a tight budget I decided I would live out of a ‘compact’ campervan to eliminate accomodation expenses. It’s a small van and there is definietly only room for one person 😜 plus I wanted some ‘me’ time after the challenging last year.

Despite doing ‘The Challenge’ on my own, some of the clubs were kind enough to arrange a playing partner (some even roped in the Club Captain for the job 🙂); on other days I have either played solo or been lucky enough to be paired up with random members that were teeing off near my scheduled slot.
